Writing online


I'm a big fan of Charles Bukowski.

One thing that's evident if you've read any of the books written on his life is that writing all those poems was bloody hard work.

No, I mean really hard.

I can't now recall the exact figure, but if he got five or seven poems written of a night, he was doing well.

He did eventually get given an early Apple Mac and he was astonished to find how easy it was to write, not least because he could easily see and correct his errors. Unfortunately, it came too late for us fans as he died within a couple of years of being gifted it.

I mean just think about. Writing online that is. I think we sometimes forget how easy it is to write and share our material.

Imagine not having all this technology.

Anyhow, given the ease of writing, I hope in the coming year you start to flex your writing muscles and blog or post in a way that helps you connect more deeply with your true self.

When we want to, we can achieve great things. I mean life-changing things – for us and others. Of course, we're not superhuman or robots and it's understandable why we're not always inclined or inspired to act this way. In fact, just as often we'd rather live a nice quiet life. When life passes you by

Right now, one day feels much like the one before. Hell, even the weekends have bled into the week, and it's a wonder I can remember what day it is. And if this Covid19 thing has its continued way, I don't see this mesmerising routine letting up anytime soon. But I digress. Life . 'WOW' and 'Meh!' in equal measure. And it goes by at such a pace that before you know where you are, you wonder where the hell it's gone. At the time – deep in the trenches – it all feels so real, so alive but in hindsight (at least for me) it hardly registers on the life and death scale. I'll be honest, right now, there's a sense, a blessed one that I'm going through the motions. And that's not me; I'm very much of the school that likes to have a purpose or at least a settled meaning to my 'doing'. Never be afraid to fail. In fact, if you live on the edge but never leap, you'll never come alive to True Self. Of course, in this Instagram et al. world, everything's f*cking perfect. It's not. It's sh*t. It's hard. It's death dealing. But then again, right now, is the universal God that exists for us all if we'd only get out the way. Perhaps it's me but I'm sick to death of everyone telling me how perfect their life is and how by dint of changing my habits, I can have a better life. NO I CAN'T. And I don't want it that way. I want to know that I gave a sh*t and gave it my best shot. So what if I don't have a slew of toys and faux experiences to mark my life. I want it real.
